1.Who we are and what this covers

In short: This policy applies whenever you use Movago's websites, apps or support as a customer or partner.

Movago Inc. (“Movago”, “we”, “us” or “our”) operates a Canadian platform for on-demand rides, scheduled shared trips, courier delivery, local home and lifestyle services, and event tickets, along with the Movago Wallet, gift cards, Movago Pro, partner offers and in-app support.

This policy explains how we handle personal information when you visit our websites, use our web or mobile apps, contact support, or take part as a driver, service provider, event organizer or advertiser. It is designed around Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and other privacy laws that apply to you.

It does not cover third-party websites or services we link to. Drivers, service providers and organizers you book through Movago are independent parties, and they are responsible for how they handle information they receive to fulfil your booking.

3.How we use your information

In short: We use your information to run your bookings, keep people safe, process payments and improve Movago.

Meet legal dutiesComply with tax, accounting and regulatory obligations, respond to lawful requests, and enforce our Terms of Use.

We rely on your consent, which may be express or implied depending on how sensitive the information is and what you would reasonably expect. Where laws such as the GDPR apply, we also rely on performing our contract with you, our legitimate interests in running a safe service, and our legal obligations.

4.Location information

In short: Location powers matching, pickups and nearby results. You control access in your device settings.

We use location to calculate distances, connect you with nearby drivers and providers, show live trip progress, and display relevant trips, events and offers. Service provider results use your location to find pros within your area, and a precise location is needed for some features to work.

  • Encryption: when your browser shares your location, it is sent to our server, encrypted using AES-256, and the encrypted reference is kept in your browser. The secret keys remain on our servers.
  • City lookups: we use a reverse geocoding provider to turn coordinates into city and region names.
  • During a booking: relevant location details, such as your pickup point or a driver's progress, are visible to the people involved in that booking.
  • Trip sharing: live trip details are shared only with people you choose to share them with.

You can turn off location access at any time in your browser or device settings. Some features may stop working or ask you to enter an address instead.

5.Safety features and audio recording

In short: Safety tools are there for you to use. Ride audio recording is optional and stays off unless you turn it on.

Movago includes pickup and delivery verification codes, live trip sharing and emergency contacts. When you use these tools, we process the information needed to make them work, including sharing your trip with the people you pick.

Ride Audio Recording is optional. If you use it, we process the recording to provide the feature and, where relevant, to help review a reported safety incident. Recording laws vary, and you are responsible for using the feature lawfully.

Movago is not an emergency service. If you are in immediate danger, call 911 or your local emergency number.

6.Maya, our AI support assistant

In short: Maya is an AI assistant that can see your bookings to help you, and you can ask for a human at any time.

Maya is an automated assistant available in the app 24/7. To answer your questions, Maya uses your account and booking details along with what you type. We keep these conversations so we can continue your support case, hand you over to a person, and improve the quality of our support.

AI responses can be incomplete or wrong, so please check anything important. If you would rather speak with a person, ask Maya to hand you off to human support. Please avoid sharing sensitive information that your support request doesn't need.

7.How we share information

In short: We share what's needed to complete your booking, run the service and meet legal duties. We don't sell it.

8.How long we keep information

In short: We keep information only as long as we need it for the purposes in this policy or as the law requires.

How long we keep something depends on what it is and why we have it. We consider:

  • whether your account is active and you still need the information to use Movago
  • tax, accounting and other legal record-keeping requirements
  • whether it is needed for safety, fraud prevention, an open dispute or a legal claim

  • Payments are handled by Stripe, a PCI-DSS Level 1 certified processor.
  • API requests pass through a secured gateway with header verification.
  • Pickup, delivery and ticket checks use verification codes and live scanner sessions.

If a breach of security creates a real risk of significant harm, we will notify you and the relevant regulators as the law requires. Please use a strong, unique password, keep your login private, and tell us right away if you suspect someone else has accessed your account.

10.Your privacy rights

In short: You can access, correct, export or delete your information, and withdraw consent, subject to legal limits.

  • Access: ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
  • Correction: update your profile in Settings, or ask us to correct anything inaccurate.
  • Deletion: ask us to delete your account and verification records.
  • Portability: ask for an export of your account data.
  • Withdraw consent: change your choices at any time. Some features may then stop working.
  • Object or restrict: where the law gives you this right, including in the EEA and UK.
  • Automated decisions: where the law provides, including in Quebec, ask for information about decisions made using automated processing.

To make a request, email privacy@movagoinc.com. We may need to confirm your identity first. We aim to respond within 30 days, and we will tell you if we need longer or cannot fulfil a request and why.

Complaints

Please contact us first so we can try to help. You can also complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, or to your provincial or local privacy regulator.

11.Where information is processed

In short: Some of our vendors operate outside Canada, so your information may be processed in other countries.

Your information may be stored or processed outside your province or Canada, including in the United States, by vendors acting for us. While there, it may be subject to the laws of that country and accessible to its authorities. We use contracts and other safeguards to protect information handled by our vendors.

12.Age limits

In short: Movago accounts are for adults.

You must be at least 18 or the age of majority where you live to create a Movago account. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.

13.Marketing and notifications

In short: You can opt out of marketing at any time. Important booking and account messages will still reach you.

We send commercial messages in line with Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL). Every marketing email includes a way to unsubscribe, and you can control push notifications in your device settings.

Even if you opt out of marketing, we will still send messages about your bookings, payments, security and account.

14.Cookies and browser storage

In short: We use cookies and similar tools to keep you signed in and make Movago work.

Our Cookie Policy lists the cookies and browser storage we use and explains how to manage them. Storage items such as mvg_u_loc_island_ref are covered there.

15.Changes to this policy

In short: We'll update the date above, and tell you directly about important changes.

We may update this policy as Movago changes or the law evolves. The “Last updated” date shows the latest version. If a change materially affects how we handle your information, we will give you notice in the app, by email or in another appropriate way, and ask for your consent where required.
